Uber describes itself as a service that is "evolving the way the world moves" by connecting riders and local drivers through a mobile app. A tech-savvy on-demand taxi service, Uber has found its place in around 35 countries worldwide so far, and recently expanded to Louisville, Ky.
The timing of Uber's launch in Louisville couldn't be better - the city is geared up to celebrate the Kentucky Derby and Oaks (freshly rebranded as the Longines Kentucky Oaks... ew).
Everyone who's been to Louisville for the Derby knows that the race is only a fraction of the story - the days and weeks leading up to the event are populated fully with parties, galas, benefits, gatherings, and other events. Everyone needs a way to get there and get back, and the base of potential riders swells with tourists and spectators, many of which have probably either used or heard about Uber already.
Uber is certainly set up for success this Derby season - here's hoping they see continued success in Louisville.
